Also, June marks the 3rd year anniversary of the Gratitude Group that I host. If you aren’t familiar, it’s an intentional/mindfulness community/social group/meetup. Our foundation event is a bi-weekly(ish) park meetup where we have a soundbath meditation then do some gratitude journaling and community sharing. But we also do hikes, arts n crafts, sober dance parties, game nights, and more. Our next big meetup celebrating the anniversary is next Sunday June 9th. First, let me recommend some recent album releases that I’m LOVING!
Just today the new album by Arooj Aftab came out. It’s beautiful. Speaking of, the album Love in Exile that she did last year with Vijay Iyer was also gorgeous. And speaking of Vijay Iyer, he released an album earlier this year called Compassion; again, so gorgeous!
Beth Gibbons from Portishead also has a new one. Its hauntingly beautiful (& sad lol).
Shabaka (of Sons of Kemet) is going down a similar path as Andre 3000 w/ woodwind flutes, and released a beautiful new album (which actually features Andre 3000) called Perceive it’s Beauty, Acknowledge it’s Grace.
The last thing I want to share is a hidden gem film; which I know will be in my top 10 of 2024, but will def fall under the radar. The Last Stop in Yuma County. If you can, go see this in theaters. If not, rent it On-Demand. This film was funny, tense, smart, and dark! What a wild ride!
