Saturday March 7th:
- @heavy_traffic_mag reading event at the @dca_barnsdall_gallerytheatre in @barnsdallpark w/ the mighty Ottessa Moshfegh & more 730pm FREE
- Live jazz at @reveriebookstand in Echo Park w/ @monokon_(feat @danesandborg, @davidmosessss & more). Guys, interesting jazz IN a used bookstore! Sick! 9pm - 11pm ish FREE
- @katalystcollective is making really interesting experimental jazz. They’re playing the Del Monte Speakeasy at the @townhousevenice w/ an LA Hip Hop LEGEND @myka9. Trust, if you’re on the West Side GO TO THIS! 8pm $15
- Anytime @wildup does anything it makes my weekend picks. I’ve never not been blown away by anything of theirs I’ve attended. The WIld Up avant-garde ensemble will be performing at @calartsredcat in DTLA; with special guest vocalist @juliaholter. This is sold out, and I’m so bummed I didn’t get a ticket ahead of time. BUT there is a standby line; it’s what I’m gonna do, and I suggest you do the same! 8pm $25
- Actually between the last one and this one, I really can’t decide! @sarahdavachi (amazing, mind-blowing composer) is at @thebroadmuseum; this will be really special! Both experimental & meditative $25 8pm - 10pm
Sunday March 8th:
- The Gratitude Group I host is doing a “mindfulness hike” in Griffith Park. We meet at 10am for coffee & pastries, then an easy 30 min nature walk to a secret wooded forest area for some journaling & intention setting. $10 donation. I mean, there isn’t a better way to start a Sunday! Link in bio.
- Some daytime cosmic jazz vibes in Pasadena at @healingforcerecords w/ @lionmilk_ & @instantalter 2pm. Sliding scale entry
- The incredibly joyful jazz/soul choir @thevoicesofcreation; led by the always amazing @jimettarose will be performing at @!gettymuseum at 4pm. I’ll be honest guys, this is a DO NOT MISS! Oh, also it’s FREE! See u there!
- In celebration of (the amazingly talented) @moormother‘s new poetry collection; she’ll be doing a reading at @Storiesbooksandcafe 6pm FREE
Also, great jazz show Monday eve via @etapresents for their Behind The Bookcase series at @barcovell in Los Feliz. Really exciting lineup! Very cutting edge and experimental
