I’m out of town this weekend, so no “weekend picks” post on Friday; but here are 10 interesting things to do between now and next Monday. Enjoy <3
Monday March 9th:
- @etapresents with a stellar one tonight! FANTASTIC lineup of truly remarkable jazz/improvisation musicians as part of their Behind the Bookcase series at @hotelcovell / @barcovell. You will be blown away. TRUST! 830pm $15
Tuesday March 10th:
- @minaretrecords bringing out incredibly influential/iconic Brazilian jazz musician @toninhohorta to the @lodgeroom. This is a big deal! 7pm $40
Wednesday March 11th:
- Literary events are in abundance in LA right now, and i’m loving it! Here’s a moonlight reading in a garden taking place in Mid City at @davidhorvitz‘s 7th Ave Garden; with readings by Nada Alic @nadaalic, Gideon Jacobs @gideon___jacobs, & John Tottenham @johntottenham & hosted by @appleappel 7pm
Thursday March 12th:
- Guys keep your eyes on @loreleimertpark; this Leimert Park bookstore has been doing really interesting programming. Thursday night they have an evening of jazz by way of @thedonbrowncollective. Should be a good one 6pm - 8pm $20
Saturday March 14th:
- Some beautiful live ambient music on a Saturday afternoon at @healingforcerecords in Pasadena w/ @clairerousay & @waltmcclements. 2pm $15
Sunday March 15th:
- For all my cinephiles IT’S THE OSCARS!! Watch the award show (including the red carpet) in community at@vidiots 2pm. Last two years this did hit capacity! So go early
- And another Awards watch party (this is the one I went to last year. Was so fun!). @dynastytypewriter is hosting an Oscar watch party in their theatre; hosted by comedian @guybranum 4pm - 7pm FREE
- @clubgaygardens and @livingearth.la present Pisces Plantasia at @plant_material‘s Silverlake location. DJ sets by @green_house1976 & more 4pm - 8pm
- This one is a DO NOT MISS (trust me)! @pengateconcertseries celebrating LEGEND @vinnygolia‘s 80th at @scribble.community with a flawless lineup of some cutting edge, fiery, improvised jazz music. This is the REAL DEAL! 7:30PM $15
Monday March 16th:
- A week from today. Just giving you a heads up since these tend to sell out. @micahsmarket presents their Journal Live Session at @geturdupe / @gatheringsatdupe. Journal, read, work on a craft project etc to the sound of live jazz. A VIBE! 7pm - 9pm $15
